One "Invisible" Reason Why Ladies Are Cougars and Men Date Older Women

Nowadays, it's pretty common to find couples with big age difference..."Cougars" do have their own subjective & logical reasons in their consciousness. They might find younger men more attractive because of how fun they can be, how they don't have to compete in career or maturity, and many other personal reasons. It goes the same for men who look for women way older than them. There could be a lot of other reasons that could be the "go for it factors". But here's ONE that I'd like to talk about and it is built through the type of parenting they experienced from their parents... meaning this could be one of  the reasons from the subconsciousness which supports their behavior.

1. Cougars (Women-men)
www.google.com
Women who are attracted to younger men maybe because of the past experience on how the father treated her. An over dominant father may leave a mark in her subconscious, making her thirsty of freedom (may also be freedom of choice and so on depending on personal experience). It could also be on how she saw her father treated her mom, the bitterness stays inside (conscious or unconsciously). The basic human goal is to move out from inferiority and achieve superiority which then affects on her future relationships. Dating a younger men may quench her feeling of superiority that she had been missing in the past (aside from the other rational reasons she can come up with).

Well what about dating a way older man? This also kinda works the same way. If dating a younger man is because the need of feeling superior, then dating an older man is the need of a leader, protector, a decision maker, a responsible man, and so on. Looking back at the past experience, may lead to finding the parenting type of the father. May also be because of feeling neglected or being raised by a single parent (most likely be by the mother or grandmother)

2. Men-women
Men who are attracted to wayyy younger women (well this is also pretty common) but might also be because of an over dominant mother. Definitely needs the feeling of superiority and thus he can find from dating a young lady. Vice versa, men who dates an older women may be because the lack of experiencing his standard of a good mother. Therefore dating an older woman may give him the comfort and feeling loved, cared and so on.

We can never judge or generalize this to everyone. Everybody do have their own stories and experiences and there could be many other personal reasons why dating with a big gap of age is comfortable.. it is very subjective and can actually bring positive effects and fulfilling needs. This post also explains why good parenting is actually a big deal and has a strong effect in relationships.

Psychololgy: Do you agree with face reading?

I feel really bad for not posting anything for quite some time. I am glad though I still have readers reading everyday. It's been really tough for me since I am on my first week of uni... I am hyped about my psychology classes but I am still adapting with everything else, the friends, the place, the responsibilities with everything new to me. Can't help to feel alone either but things will get better soon. Besides, there's this quote:

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to end, but learning to dance in the rain"

"If you don't like the situation you're in, change it. If you can't change it, change the way you think about it"

So whether I like it or not, my only option for things to change is to like it XD

Back to psychology and whats new to me..

Everybody knows about astronomy (horoscopes), this Chinese thing called Feng Shui (for luck & prosperity), and perhaps the face reading including the hand palm reading too! Well either one of these terms would be familiar to people. But I'm going to write a post about the face reading + hand-palm reading and what psychology has to say about it (since it is more about peoples' behavior).

Okay, the Bible obviously disagrees with those since they do not put God as the Creator who has ultimate power and control.

Psychologically...

Face reading + hand palm reading may seem to be real if you believe in it. In face reading, you may think you identify someone's personality through their face structure, how their eyes, nose, mouth, ears, jaw, lips, forehead, etc looks like. You may even be familiar with Sheldon's theory about how body shapes determine someone's personality ...hey there's no scientific explanation and as time goes on, the theory had been proved not-so-valid. Everybody is created in a special way, there is no one with the same personality, not even twins are perfectly the same. Psychology calls this as the Barnum Effect. It happens when we put peoples' personality in certain categories through a general & abstract judgment (something we cannot explain scientifically). We cannot identify someone's personality in general and an abstract way because everyone is special and concrete with specific personalities. And to see it that way, it sounds pretty judgmental, rude and biased. It would be pretty offensive for the thin people to be stereotyped as not as friendly as the fatter ones while actually some of them may be really friendly and humorous. In another case your forehead seems to show that you are illogical and a not rich person, it is pretty hurtful and isn't true because logic and being rich isn't determined by the shape of your forehead. It doesn't really make sense scientifically because there is no explanation.
We are free to choose what we believe in, everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial :)

Personalities Came From Liquid?

Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholic, and Phlegmatic. I have heard about these types of personality all my life (not literally) but I'm pretty sure it is commonly known. I do have a global picture of each personality but I DID NOT know that all these are actually from the liquid in our body.

It is known that from the blood we can identify Sanguine, the Yellow Bile determines whether someone is a Choleric, the Dark Bile is for Melancholic and the Phlegm determines how someone is a Phlegmatic...
But for a 100% assurance and validity, it is still discussed with pros and cons.

Can a person change to different personalities?

Well a person can have more than one personality that is dominant. Just like me I am a Sanguine and a Phlegmatic. Everyone is born with different personalities and yes you can control but you can't run from the fact that it will be dominant. It takes time and determination to really completely change. In some conditions, we may have another personality taking control, but it would only be temporary due to some external factors. Just like a Sanguine may suddenly be a Melancholic after watching a "heart-felt" movie but it is not for long, sooner or later the Sanguine side will come back. Well, each personality may have its "not so good" side or there will be things you want to change for the better, and that can happen because change is always a choice and there is always a control. A Melancholic can't just give up on trying to make more friends although the style would be different than a Sanguine, a Phlegmatic can't just neglect responsibilities and say I can't because I'm not a Choleric. Dominance of personality exists but control is always available.

Memories

Memories. Writing the first word of my post gave me so many flashes. Everybody has their own memories that they can't erase in just a blink of an eye or a lifetime, even if the people in it go by choice or by time.

Significant events are easier to remember...

Same place, different time, different people

Situation 1:

A rushing hour, I had to go in the car quickly. As I opened the door and put my right foot in the car, the person driving didn't realize I still had my other foot on the ground. It was a rush therefore the car was in an instant high speed (in a speed that was really fast for me). Luckily I responded quickly although I was very shocked.

Situation 2:

I can still remember where I'm facing and how I'm nervous and shy to give him that tiny paperbag as his Christmas gift. Inside there was something I knew he liked. All the thoughts jumbled up in my head whether to give it now or maybe next time. Again, we didn't have much time but I could still remember all the nerve-wrecking  feeling in me..I was happy & sad. So I took the guts to just give it to him in that place. I can still picture his reaction and how he glanced at me which actually made me feel a rush of blood in my face. He didn't expect what was coming and in return he handed me a really nice thing he had prepared. We only met for a while, it was raining pretty hard outside and he had to take me home.

So...

Both situations happened at the same exact place, different timing and with different people. The first situation happened around last month while the second happened almost a year ago. There is one common thing, both happened in a short period of time although situation 1 was shorter because I only remembered the "pinnacle" of the moment with a "global" view. Didn't even remember what happened before and after that experience. But I totally remember how I felt. From how I described these situations you can tell which one is a positive memory and which one is unpleasant.

Memories are actually made by how the emotions are aroused, not by personal significance. I can totally remember the second situation better because I was more into my emotions rather than the first. I didn't have a hard time describing, all the words just came in my mind (believe me I had to erase a lot of details because it was too long). Another thing is, pleasant emotions are way attached to the memory than the bad ones. That is why we would have more contextual details from the positive events that we have. From the first situation (which is a bad experience), I can only remember the big picture or the bottom line of the incident. I didn't remember how the others responded, how exactly fast did the car go, or how did my surroundings looked like. All I remember that it was frightening and next time I should learn from it. A good memory is actually composed by how strong the emotions were brought, not how important the details were! This is also why lyrics are easily remembered than the lessons in school, because lyrics catches the emotions.

Try thinking of a pleasant memory and an unpleasant one, which one is more detailed?

How did I come up with "This reminds me of ..."

It's not about the place, the person, the things around or lots of other reasons we might think is what recalls a certain memory. The secret is in the mood you feel that brings you back the memory. If the mood "catches" the mood you once felt... there goes your memory popping up, so don't be surprised. Hmm let's say you saw this familiar object, it's actually not because of the appearance of the object that makes you recognize it but how an object in the past affected your feeling towards it. You can always find objects but doesn't seem to recognize because that object never had anything to do with your sense of feeling or mood.

Here's for you! The 5-Must-Know Sleeping Disorders :)

After a couple of days not writing I am now here with a post about sleeping disorders. I am glad someone requested it because this topic turns out to be fun and fascinating! But got to be honest this post is more challenging because I am actually taking a “head-start” to what I will be learning… I really had much fun and I hope you do too :)

Sleeping disorders. My most random thought and maybe to some other people in general is Insomnia. It is pretty common around teens and grown-ups so yeah, I guess that’s how it is recognized by many. Followed by sleep walking, I have experienced that myself but when they start talking about Sleep Terror, Sleep Apnea, and Narcolepsy, that’s a whole different thing to me.

Insomnia

It’s late at night, the clock is ticking loud and he still can’t get himself to sleep.  He kept on waking up and having a hard time going back to sleep then waking up really early in the morning. As a cherry on top, it’s really early and he feels exhausted. What he is dealing with is Insomnia.
Now Insomnia can be caused by health problems or other reasons. A short period of Insomnia which is approximately around 1 night to a few weeks is known as Acute Insomnia and worse, the Chronic Insomnia starts from 3 nights per week for the whole month or longer.  Many things can cause Insomnia but Chronic Insomnia happens due to distress, depression, anxiety, chronic stress and physical or emotional pain.

Sleep Walk

It happens unconsciously to someone who’s sleeping but doing things he does when he is in a conscious state. My little brother used to sleep walk a lot, and there would be times he would run out of the room, walk down the stairs (with eyes open) and creep my parents out but he would not recall any of that because sleep walkers actually have low memory or none at all. As I have mentioned, my bro’s eyes were opened but what he sees won’t be as clear. Sleep walking can be extreme. Wikipedia stated that in 2004, an Australian woman was treated after having sex with a stranger and she was in fact sleep-walking! In 2008, another woman sent emails to her friends inviting them for a dinner and yes, she was unconscious.

Sleep Terror

For me personally, this one is one of the top creepy sleep disorders because it commonly happens to little children ages 3-7.  For small boys, sleep terror happens around the age 5-7. It allows the child to wake up feeling terrified, screaming, thrashing around unconsciously and violently, sweating, hyperventilating with a fast heart rate and dilated pupils. All the craziness happens around 10-20 minutes. The child may experience this when having a high fever, lack of sleep, or emotional pressure, stress or conflicts. Adults can actually experience this too! While for grown-ups, this happens due to emotional tension or the effects of using alcohol.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea won’t let its victim breathe well. It would make adults reduce its breathing… so it stops and starts, repeating this pattern over and over. Well snoring is actually included as a Sleep Apnea. Now there are two types of this sleep disorder, the Obstructive Sleep Apnea happens when the throat muscles relax and on the other side the Central Sleep Apnea. This type is all about the brain and how it did not send the proper signals to muscles that are responsible to take care of breathing.

Narcolepsy

Have you ever played The Sims by EA Games? This sleeping disorder reminded me of the moments I made my character do a lot of activities to the point of exhaustion and it instantly slept anywhere. So when someone is suffering the Narcolepsy (let’s just say he’s a guy), he would be heavily sleepy that it may cause him to sleep instantly even if he was in the middle of something or talking! The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute mentioned that this sleep disorder may cause Cataplexy. If the Cataplexy affects his hand, he would lose control of his hand and muscles…so whatever he’s holding, he’d drop it. Aside from that, Narcolepsy also creates hallucinations and sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis causes you unable to move your body or speak while waking up or falling asleep. I’ve heard a lot of people mistaken the sleep paralysis with a superstition. So they say like when you cannot move or speak (sleep paralysis) means there’s a ghost sitting on you, glad to know science has its own explanations.

More Than Just A Great Day or Good Hormones

A joyful heart is a good medicine.. - Proverbs 17:2

It's a public secret that being happy and positive is actually good for the health. We also know that it affects our hormones, at least that's what I know in general. But today I am astonished by how deep this whole cheerful thing is.

I figured out that being happy and positive protects us from heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular events.
For more information: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/263175.php

The ABC news stated a better immune system
( http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/health/2013/03/27/how-happiness-affects-your-health/ )

Harvard School of Public Health discussed that negative emotions causes serious disease.
"heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Chronic anger and anxiety can disrupt cardiac function by changing the heart’s electrical stability, hastening atherosclerosis, and increasing systemic inflammation."

So I guess we all should face each day with a positive attitude. No regrets right? Aside from being in a bad temper and having a horrible day, we can seize the day and stay healthy. It's all in the mind.

Psychology & Body Language: "I know you like me ;)"

I just got home from my class, I know it is late night to post but I think this part of psychology and body language is kinda cute and would totally help confused guys or girls figuring out whether he or she is interested ;)

Well, this topic that I am about to share really reminds me of my best friend years back when we were in elementary. I would always and always ask her something like: "M, do you think he likes me back?? I mean seriously.." I would ask, ask, and keep on asking until she would come up with "Flo, if you ask again I would really ask that dude to tell you what he feels about you" or she would say, "Flo I feel like killing you! Stop asking me!" This goes on and on until middle school (lol even high school). I'm glad we had crazy moments about crushes to laugh about now.

So back to what I said is kinda cute, you can actually tell whether someone is attracted to you through psychology and body language.Generally, when a guy or girl is attracted to the opposite gender, he or she would TOTALLY be positive about you. I'm not trying to state the obvious but here's the thing, the whole body would support the positivity which means all will direct to you. The sitting position, the position of the shoulders, the toes, everything will point/face/direct to you.

Note to girls: when a guy is sitting and is crossing his legs, if his toes or lets just say the top of his foot is pointing at you, no doubt that his toes are trying to tell you he's into you.

Another thing I recently knew is about the intimate zone or private zone. Well this explains why couples would be so close with each other. This shows a sense of belonging or to show that he or she is mine. Have you ever been so pissed or distracted when a stranger stands too close to you? That's because the person is "messing up" with your intimate zone.

Love

Love.

Love is patient, love is kind. It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love suffers long.

A couple of days ago me and my family had a tragedy that made a story. We lost our one and only, joyful dog. I loved her so much to the point where losing her made me so lifeless. She was always with me since I was small, she really brings me the joy and I love her so much that it kills me to know she's not home. The meanest thing you can do to someone is to take away something that is a part of them, something they are attached to, something they love.

I struggled looking for her morning, noon and night. All the anxiety in my head killed my hopes. I drove, I rode my bike, I walked in the rain for 2.5 hours, looking for her. Yes, I was upset at God. Because I knew He's alive, I knew how He had existed in my life and helped me even with the slightest details that I thought a God wouldn't care, I knew how He had been there and I knew miracles existed. But there I was, thinking how could He let this happen to me. How could He let me lose something that's so important to me, that's simply so mean..

Took me days and days to search, I was suffering inside with all the feels, emotions, assumptions and fear if I would never see my dog again. Searching for her was so tiring emotionally and physically. On the third day of missing her, I knelt down and prayed an "angry" prayer. I explained how I feel so disappointed and how I forgot His past deliverance, how He really cared for me even for the slightest detail. All that's in my mind was how could He let this happen to me. I just want Him to prove me wrong. I want Him to show me that He cares for my feelings just as He used to. That same day, just a few hours later, something happened. It was a miracle, because coincidences don't happen like they are meant to happen.

The tragedy ended when a lady cleaning the neighborhood rushing to my house a few hours after I delivered my mad prayer. It was a perfect timing. How she found my home and knew that I am the girl missing my dog really made no sense and left a testimony to the person helping her find me (met the person today as I was taking my dog a walk, told me she was amazed by His work). The cleaning lady found my dog in a deep sewer. I was afraid of insects, cockroaches and whatsoever creep me to the core. But I looked into my dog's eyes and her bark full of joy and crying out for help gave me no choice but to go in the sewer and carry her out.

The whole chronological order of what I experienced taught me about true love..

Love is when He had to not stop searching me as I go further. Love is when He had to suffer wanting me home while I have no freakin' idea of what I am doing. Love is when He had to sacrifice by doing something that creeps Him out to the core just so I won't die and be back home.

Imagining it this way...

Kyna can be mad and disappointed at me for thinking that I left her alone until she fell in the sewer, while she actually doesn't know that I am looking & approaching her. Bad things could happen to her as she was astray, and she can just blame me for not saving her and think that I do not care (while actually she is going further out of my reach by choice).
And if Kyna was mad at me horribly, I still would love her because I know she doesn't understand. No matter how mad she is at me, I won't stop giving her favorite food, I won't stop protecting her, I won't stop giving her the best.

and now i understand, that's what Love is.
Kyna , the day she went home :)

A boring cycle: you're born, keep yourself alive, you die. Seriously?

I have been familiarized with the line I used as my title since I was in middle school. Way back then, the statement would be something like we have to study, take the test, pass and that's just over and over. Now that I'm growing, the statement changed into life's purpose. And yes, that's creepy and so wrong in so many ways. If you see my previous post with the pyramid of motivation, that statement would be in the first line of the pyramid.. ( http://simply-passion.blogspot.com/2013/06/where-are-you-at-level-of-motivation.html )

I do find a lot of people (success in their career & wealth) use it for ordinary purposes. Just so that their life is secure, their basic needs in abundance, or maybe just to be prestigious and get more and more of money and investments. Now for that, you can always get there even though there's a lot of people, like seriously. That type of lot would always have a place for someone to squeeze in. But right now I am talking about another lot that's increasing because there are so many wrong things popping out EVERY SINGLE DAY. Look at the news, weird things happen everyday. Okay maybe that's too much for now so let's take a smaller view, observe your surroundings or people's habits around you that is very much disturbing. I do find tons, and what I hate most is to see people littering. I don't know, but it seriously pisses me off.  I mean like what the heck, who do you suppose should clean up your mess? I can't help to stereotype those people as beings who would mess up irresponsibly and expect other people to fix their mess. I would tell the people around me to keep their rubbish until they find a rubbish bin. Because you can always tell someone's personality and values through the little things they do.

I really hope and aim that I would be someone wealthy with and for a purpose :). I'm posting this so that at least my readers would realize there is always an empty lot where you can be somebody that gives influence and make a change. There's no reason not to, I mean look there's so many wrong things and nobody's doing anything about it. I was really inspired by Dr.Cindy Jacobs in one of the conference that I attended. She said don't wait for someone to fix something you yourself can fix because that is your actual calling.

So...some ladies are sexist towards their own gender? XD

(EVEN FOR LADIES) I still find girls and ladies with traditional perspectives. No, we ladies aren't born to follow the fate of our hubbies. God planted our own desires for a purpose and we should acknowledge it. As long as we're humans, we were created for our own purpose and calling. Purpose and callings aren't sexist you know.. Besides, a lot of people had to fight hard for women's rights so I believe that I and other ladies should cherish  it and not put ourselves back like the old days.

A clinical instructor at Harvard discusses medical miracle, existence of God and his personal story.

I was scrolling down the Bloglovin page and found this really awesome article by a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School. In his blog, he discusses about medical miracle, the existence of God and his own personal story.
I was very enthralled with the article. He talked about Dr.Alexander (a Harvard trained neurosurgeon) and his experience in becoming someone who believes God and wrote a book entitled Proof of Heaven. He also explained that prayer and medicine is a potent combination.
I would have alot to share from what I read through his blog but it would be best for you to go check it out at :

False Awakening: Are you sure you're awake??

I seriously had no intention to write and post about dreams until last night I had this strange dream. I was experiencing something that is known as the False Awakening. This dream concept was used in the movie Inception

So, there are many types of false awakenings but basically it is when you are convinced that you are waking up from your dream but you are actually still asleep. When you start doing your activities by sleep walking, it is known as the Continuum. While what I experienced is called the Double Dream or dream within a dream (can be more than two frames).

I dreamed that a friend of mine asked me to go somewhere and join my boyfriend with another friend ours. I was not happy and am upset because my boyfriend didn't tell me that he is in town! I felt so uncomfortable and was fully convinced that I woke up. I gave thought to how I was relieved that it was just a dream. A few minutes afterwards, that's the moment I woke up from my false awakening dream. So in my first dream, I thought I woke up but I didn't.

False awakenings may lead to the pre-lucid dream. In pre-lucid dream, you will be so confused and you won't be able to tell whether you are really dreaming or conscious. Some types of dreams can also be considered as the OBE or the Out of Body Experience.

For some of you who had been experiencing this a lot or do not want to experience, I found a website that gives a lot of  information on how to prevent false awakenings. Check it out: http://dreamstudies.org/2010

Where are you at? : Level of Motivation

Everyone has their own purpose of doing something, or as I refer to their motivation in achieving. I believe motivation leads you to places you never imagined before. One thing I know for sure, from the heart you'll receive your outcome.Motivation also defines who you are as a person. So, the higher your motivation, the priceless it is. Although you may now find yourself in the first line, you can ALWAYS choose to change if you really want to! It's just in the matter of the mind! Change is constant :)

Levels of motivation by Abraham Maslow:

1. Physiological: physical needs (food, house, basic necessities, biological needs, etc)
2. Safety
3. Love/belonging
4. Esteem: (pride, prestige)
5. Self-actualization : when you live your values and by morality

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs picture: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Maslow%27s_Hierarchy_of_Needs.svg

Now that you have seen the levels, try to identify where you may be. You know you can always reach the top, only if you want to! You can always achieve a better and happier life with the right motivation.

Would you prefer a Self Capture or an Aura Capture?

Today in class I was astonished to hear about taking pictures of your aura and see the colors. Once you know the colors you can tell more on your personality. Have to be honest this is something new to me and am also doing more research on it. A lot of people may have different perspectives and opinions regarding this thing but there's nothing wrong to keep yourself updated with what's happening. Keep self opened up for information and stand on your ground.

Check out this article to read more about taking captures of your aura and what does the color indicates: http://healingandlove.com/2013/06/05/how-to-view-your-aura-from-a-picture-and-aura-color-meanings/

Psychology & Science: Your Eyes Don't Lie

I have just arrived home from my regular night classes. Today I learned tons on how to identify a person through their face structure and about the body language. I personally am fascinated with how the Creator created human beings and how we can tell about someone's personality in just a blink! We are not living in a regular world here, there's so much out there to discover!
source: http://inserbia.info/news/2013/05/how-our-eyes-reveal-our-thoughts-and-emotions/

Here's a short research I did on how to tell whether someone's being honest or not. I suppose it has been a public secret but do we actually know how it is related scientifically?

Here's a short brief of the right and left brain's "responsibility":
1. Right brain:
 • Recognizing faces
 • Expressing emotions
 • Music
 • Reading emotions
 • Color
 • Images
 • Intuition
 • Creativity
2. Left brain:
 • Language
 • Logic
 • Critical thinking
 • Numbers
 • Reasoning
Remember that when someone lies, they are "reasoning" and the left brain is on it's job. It's job is done with the help of certain nerves that's connected to the eyes and this explains why the eyes would spontaneously move to the upper left. On the contrary, when someone is recalling a certain event, someone or something,  the movement will go to the upper right.

Keep the Doctor Away By Walking the Talk Each Day

A couple of days ago...

A known speaker of parenting came to my aunt for a counseling session regarding his marriage (felt awesome to sit somewhere near & eavesdropped information while eating frozen yoghurt).  I was “mindblown” by how speakers can be so capable in talking but not in walking the talk of their own theories. On the contrary, people are looking up to him and searching for inspiration. He didn’t walk his talk, fake in public and ended up being unhappy. I figured out that not walking the talk will lead to an inner conflict (consciously or unconsciously). The inner conflict will soon turn to something horrible (disease is one of the effects), as for this man he suffered diabetes and some other illness. So bottom line: walk the talk is one way to keep the doctor away. :)
